According to my mother, water poses a danger to my life as indicated by its absence in my Chinese horoscope chart. In December 2021, after having my fortune read for 2022, she instructed me to minimize outdoor ventures, particularly the north-east of my Chicago apartment where I would be prone to danger. This pointed at the shores of Lake Michigan, coinciding with the implications of my chart. Restricted from venturing near water, I layered images from past lake visits into a viewfinder artist book—a symbolic quest to reconnect with the place where I find solace.
